TrainGermanShepherd. Net
Episode1: How is a German Shepherd Different From Other Breeds?
Hello and welcome to a new Episode from TrainGermanShepherd. Net
Today we're gonna talk about: How is a German Shepherd Different From Other Breeds?
German Shepherds are extremely active dogs. They are one of the smartest and more determined among the dogs that are usually petted.
However, there are a few things that separate them from all the other dogs that you might have come across. They need a lot of attention and constant exercise.
Training a German Shepherd needs a lot of time and patience but if you know certain things about their behavior it will become easier for you to relate with them without much difficulty.
The most important thing you need to know about a German Shepherd is that it's closest to the wild. In other words, a lot of the characteristics of these dogs are similar to their wild counterparts and wolves.
It's also worth noting that they believe in the Alpha Dog scheme for their pack. The Alpha dog is the one that leads the group, while Beta is the one that is next only to the Alpha in the hierarchy of the pack. If you can make your dog feel that you are the Alpha and he has to listen to your commands, you can train him well.
Another thing you need to keep in mind is that German Shepherds are the kind of dog that keeps striving for the best. They might also try to get closer to your position and try testing their limits with you. They might try to gain the position of Alpha by disobeying you or trying to displease you.
However, you should not get upset or violent but show them their place sternly. Unless you make him feel you are the stronger one in the pack, he might not be willing to listen to you.
Finally, a German shepherd might accept you as the Alpha Dog of his pack but he has to be the Beta Dog. If you have other dogs in your house, you need to be very careful about the fact that your German shepherd will try to dominate all other dogs that you have. It comes naturally to him but it can create problems for the rest of the dogs. It is therefore preferable that when you have a German shepherd try not to have other fierce breeds of dogs within your house as that can lead to stiff competition among them.
To know more about Training German Shepherds visit TrainGermanShepherd.
